Dutch conversation
The best way to learn a language is to use it!
Classical lessons are useful, but not enough to learn a language well. You have to make miles! A lot of talking, listening and conversations are needed.
This is possible in our conversation courses.
Are you following a Dutch course at the moment or have you taken lessons in the past? Do you want to practice further your speaking skills, then join these courses!
These are interactive courses where you can practice speaking the Dutch language. Through role-playing, discussions, and speaking engagements you will learn more about the Dutch language as you go along. Attention is also paid to grammar, intercultural topics and there is plenty of room for input from the participants.
The conversation courses are at different levels: beginners and intermediate. For beginners: A1/A2 level – language command at a basic level. For intermediate: A2/B1 level – language command at a good level.
The group has a maximum of 8 people participants so that everyone has sufficient time to practice and get personal attention.
Romanian beginners – module 1
The course is suitable for everybody who would like to acquire a basic knowledge of Romanian language. The lessons will be structured based on the level of difficulty. A few of the objectives of this course are mentioned bellow:
- gaining basic knowledge about Romanian language;
- getting familiar with the pronunciation of some particular Romanian sounds;
- understanding simple contexts, responding appropriate to different situations presented during the first 10 lessons;
- acquiring a basic vocabulary.
The course will mainly use the communicative method; the most used language will be Romanian. If needed, the teacher can provide explanations in English, French or Dutch. Along the lessons, cross-cultural information will be presented.
The courses are not accredited and we cannot provide attendance certificates that are officially recognized. The thematic and the level of the beginner and intermediary courses are similar to the levels A1 and A2, respectively, as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. By attending the courses we offer, which are short-term, we cannot guarantee the acquisition at the aforementioned levels. For the acquisition of the A1 and A2 levels, a much higher number of study hours and lessons are necessary.

Dana is the founder of the Interconnections Online School. Always eager to share her knowledge with her close ones and to learn from others, she felt motivated to start this online medium where people can learn and share experiences.
She is the vice president of ROMPRO and wants very much to contribute to the strengthening of the Romanian community in the Netherlands and to building bridges between it and communities of other origins.
She’s been living in the Netherlands since 1990, when she came to study. She works as an intercultural systemic psychotherapist, where her passion lies in helping mixed couples and families.
After several years of professional practice in Romania as an architect and urban planner, Ruxandra realized that it is time for a new challenge.
In 2013 she enrolled at an international master’s degree in urban planning in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. After completing her studies, she stayed in the Netherlands, where she works as a city planner in a company specialized in mobility and sustainable transport.
Wanting to stay in touch with the Romanian culture and contribute to the development of the Romanian community in the Netherlands, Ruxandra became a volunteer in various activities of the Foundation, being now project manager at Interconnections Online School.
Gia has graduated from the Faculty of Letters (University of Bucharest), where she studied French and Romanian. In Romania she worked as a French and Romanian teacher at the German High School in Bucharest.
In 1995 she taught her first Romanian lesson to a group of five Americans. Since then, she never stopped doing it; teaching is her passion. In Romania, Gia was managing the Intercultural and language training program for US governmental organizations Peace Corps.
In 2003 she moved to the Netherlands and is currently working at the British School. During free time, she also teaches individual Romanian language course for adults.
I followed the advanced module, which just ended. It is an excellent initiative for those who want to improve their knowlegde of the Dutch language. It is a great opportunity to learn the grammar rules and enrich our vocabulary. The fact that we have the weekly webinar makes us more responsible for preparing for the next meeting and keeping up with the lessons. Teachers are very committed to creating personal contact with each of us and giving us the opportunity to practice our skills in the Dutch language. I highly recommend it!
Excellent courses online! The lessons are well structured and presented in a friendly, professional manner. The Dutch language becomes more ``edible`` along with the beautiful professors Maria Popescu and Carmen Popescu! I also liked the webinar formula, it is interesting, interactive and convenient to learn the Dutch language sitting at your desk! We thank a lot to all those who have been involved in offering these courses! I think this is a great first aid to Romanians who want to learn Dutch.
recommend these courses! I've finished both the beginner and the advanced one. I was very pleased with the teaching and I want to thank the ladies for all the effort they have put on during the lessons to help us learn the Dutch language this easily!
Thank you very much for your patience and professionalism. Congratulations on everything you do and much more SUCCESS in all your projects.
The Romanian language course for beginners is pleasant, interactive and payw attention to the news. It's a good start to learn the basics. It challenges you to read, write and speak Romanian in a fun way. I liked the course a lot, I've already done it twice!
I liked the course Romanian a lot! It was the best initiation in Romanian that I could imagine. Courses and lesson plans were well done, they had a good rhythm, and they were not just a step by step understanding of the language, but also of the customs, cuisine and culture in Romania.
I missed out on module 1, but I did participate in module 2 and 3. And I really have to compliment you. Nothing is perfect, but your courses are close. And as retired educational psychologist I do know what I am talking about. Structure and elements of the course are very good and the way it is presented online is up to present standards. That we experienced some internet hiccups during the classes is only normal.
I was not in the position to participate as intense as I would have wished (something you must have noticed during the last session), but I certainly have the ambition to review all 20 lessons in the near future in order to be prepared for a possible module 4. One small point. The content of the lessons are generally very good. In my opinion a little less attention to celebrations alien to Romania (Halloween, Sinterklaas) would be welcome. Simultaneously I realize that other students on the contrary appreciate this very much. Generally I am very happy with the content more specially the proverbs and expressions are very much appreciated. My suggestion for module 4 would be to open up a bit on Romanian literature, poetry and music.
Not change a thing compared to previous courses, I like your enthusiasm and your responses to when people say extra things.

I really liked the course! I thought it was very well set up and doing it online is nice and accessible! I hope to partake again in one of the courses! I think I progressed quite a bit, especially in listening and speaking. It is great practice to listen to the lectures in a understandable form of Romanian.

Dutch module 1 INTENSIVE
The intensive Dutch language course module 1 is meant for people that want to quickly learn the language. The three lessons per week offer the possibility to swiftly put the language foundations in a 5-weeks time. The lessons are interactive and participants can practise live what they learn.A lot of attention is given to spoken interaction and during the first lessons the focus lies on pronunciation rules, basic grammar and conversation. Several grammar topics are discussed and practised, such as: the use of verbs in the present, past and future tenses, adjectives, personal and possessive pronouns. Basic language use rules receive attention, since they can further be used in everyday life.Dutch module 1
The Dutch language course module 1 has the same content and uses the same methodology as the intensive one. The difference is the rhythm of learning, being taught during 15 weeks, with one lesson per week, every Wednesday evening. It is therefore meant for people with a busy schedule that don’t have enough time to follow the intensive course.Dutch module 2
The second module of the Dutch language course is meant for people that have successfully followed the first module (intensive or not intensive). During this course, we continue to deepen the language knowledge and skills, combining various grammar topics with everyday vocabulary.Dutch module 3
The Dutch course module 3 is meant for people that master the language well enough, but they need to refine it. It is a continuation of the first two modules. We strongly encourage you to participate if you recognise yourself in one of the questions: Which words use “de” and which “het”? When do I need to use “hebben” or “zijn” to form the past tense. How do I use the verb “zouden”? When and how do I use “het or ”er”? Which is the right preposition: op, aan, voor, van, over, bij, etc?Dutch conversation
