The Romanian Business Community (RBC) is a project of ROMPRO Foundation, aimed at supporting corporate specialists, startup owners, freelancers and business holders.
We target the Dutch community that shares Romanian origins or speaks Romanian and we intend to provide business support in various activity domains of interest for this community.

Officially launched on 14th June 2017, RBC was created to enable its members:
- achieve success, develop personally and profesionally;
- acquire new skills, improve their know-how and abilities;
- expand their professional and personal network;
- start and grow new business;
- stay informed about the Dutch labour market and business environment;
- grow business, professional and personal visibility;
- improve commercial relationships and know-how exchange between Romania and The Netherlands;
- grow the prestige of the Romanian community living in The Netherlands.
In our first year of activity we intend to come up with:
- quarterly webcasts on topics of interest for the professional Romanian community;
- bi-annual interactive events (including dinner and workshops);
- quarterly newsletters;
- bi-annual networking events;
- the first Romanian Community TEDx.
Every RBC member can have an important role in a specific team and together we can find the best way to solve problems (polder model). Members’ contribution is essential to achieving our objectives and to organizing high-quality events.
For the sake of good order and results, the teams will make annual plans based on agreed objectives, defining the responsibilities of each function within RBC.
The executive panel, comprising the teams’ coordinators, will gather monthly (virtually or face-to-face) to plan and execute the scheduled activities.

General manager and co-founder of ROMPRO Foundation, Cătălina gathered as Senior Project Manager at ING Bank a vast international experience in project implementation.
Originating from Târgu-Mureș, Transylvania, Johann acquired a PhD in Informatics at University Jean-Monnet, Saint-Etienne. He worked as researcher at Bell Labs for four years, being the author of over 10 patent applications and scientific articles on social media networks and recommendation systems.
In 2013 he moved to Washington DC and worked for National Institute of Health as biomedical researcher for automatic text processing. Since 2015 he has been working as patent examiner at European Patent Office in The Hague. Founder of TEDxTârguMureș, passionate about technological innovation and community build-up.
After graduating from Law School at „Al. I. Cuza” University in Iasi, Eastern Romania, Irina moved in 2007 to The Netherlands for 1 year to take master classes.
Shortly after graduation she began her career in Compliance at ING Bank, where she currently is part of a financial criminality team that fights against money laundering and terrorism finance.
In her free time, Irina likes to enjoy the sun with a coffee cup in her hand, to travel as far as possible and to spend time with her family and friends.
Originating from Onești, Eastern Romania, Alexandra moved to Bucharest as a student in Economics. Always attracted by the international environment, she moved to Amsterdam to continue her studies.
She is very interested in transport & logistics, currently working as account manager at C.H. Robinson, one of the market leaders in this field.
In her free time she likes to meet new people, to learn new things and to travel as much as possible.
Aida came to The Netherlands in 2017 as an expat and fell hopelessly in love with Amsterdam.
She studied Telecommunications and in the last 10 years she worked as a technical solutions consultant, developing network architectures for some of the largest corporations. She enjoys reading, yoga and seaside by tent.
February 15 Business Insights & Connect
Romanian Business Community organised on 15th of February the first important event of the year at the Koninklijke Industriele Grote Club in Amsterdam. A very significant moment at the beginning of a year in which Romania celebrates 100 years since it’s creation as a modern state.
The event focused on the success in business, whether it is for professionals or for entrepreneurs and enabled the participants to interact and learn while enjoying a superb evening accompanied by a high-class dinner in a prestigious location.
October 31st Ambassadors for RomanianIT Amsterdam
The launch of the Romanian IT, community of Romanians in the information technology industry in Amsterdam. Now, the Netherlands joins the other ten open centers from Romania, France, Great Britain, USA, Germany, Austria and Portugal.
Along with Oana Bouraoui, the co-founder of the community, were the two Romanian IT Ambassadors of the Amsterdam Center, Johann Stan and Irina Damascan, members of the RBC.
We were present at the first edition of the Romanian Days Festival. We wanted to use the resources available and provide support to the Romanian community in the Netherlands for integration and professional development. Thus, we have put together three workshops: “Effective Networking,” “Speaking in Public” and “Your First Business in the Netherlands”.
June 15 Launch RBC
Wednesday, June 14, 2017, we launched the Romanian Business Community (RBC, in short). The event was held at Hilton Amsterdam and attended by professionals from newly established corporations and businesses, independent consultants and Romanian businessmen. We had a special guest, Brânduşa Predescu, Romania’s Ambassador to The Hague, as well as three wonderful associate speakers.
