Plogging is a Sweden trend which combined sports (running) with actions of cleaning the environment.
We wanted as well to clean our neighvourhood, the places we pass every day and to do a bit of sport. Therefore, we met on 24th of March, a sunny day and the National Cleaning Day in the Netherlands (Landelijke Opschoondag), to clean, as much as possible, the Zuid-Oost neighbourhood in Amstredam.
All full prepared with sport equipment, protection gloves and small garbage bags (22 l), we started the action.
Within 1 hour one person collected around 3 bags. We would run mainly when we were moving from one side to another of the neighborhood; the rest of the time we walked at normal pace and cleaned (which implied additional bending exercises).
The garbage bags we thrown, as filled, to the first garbage bin we encountered.
During our action we met as well with those from Amsterdam Zuid-Oost town hall who were encouraging the students from the nearby campus to similar cleaning actions.
