Niels from Rotterdam, who has attended the Romanian webinars organized by Interconnections Online School, has been kind and told us about his learning experience and how much it helped him.
Which of the courses organized by Interconnections Online School did you attend?
I completed three courses this year. In February I started with the first module of Romanian as a foreign language, and last week I finished the third. Each module has ten lessons, so I had thirty lessons in total this year.
What do you think about the courses? Can you tell us a bit about the trainers, the content, and how it felt during the lessons?
I liked it very much! This was the best introduction to the Romanian language I could imagine. As a 27-year-old with a full-time job, it is sometimes hard to find time to do a language course. But since it is an interactive online course in the evenings, it fits perfectly into my schedule.
The Clickmeeting tool works great, too! You can see and hear the teacher(s), you have classmates with whom you can chat and you have the slides with the educational material all in one screen. As a student, you can get invited to practice speaking as well. Together with the incredible energy, drive and motivation of the teachers – Gia, Ruxandra and Dana – it worked out really well.
The courses and lessons were well-made and contained a good pace in step by step understanding, not only of the language, but also of the habits, the food, and culture in Romania.
It was nice to have the slides of the lessons beforehand and the video material of the lesson afterwards via Google Drive. This way, even if you cannot attend some lessons, you can still do it later on!
How helpful were the courses? Which difficulties did you face before starting to study the language and how big was the positive impact after finishing the courses?
The course helped me a lot. It was a real kick start in understanding and speaking the Romanian language. Before this, I only knew a few words in Romanian, which made it sometimes quite difficult to communicate in Romanian with people who don’t speak much English. I wanted to be able to talk to them and also to know more about my (Romanian) girlfriend’s background.
Now, I can finally make the first steps. I still need to learn more verbs and words, but I can make sentences now in different times, I know how to ask for something, to introduce myself, to talk about the weather, about my day, about food, to say how I feel and what I like.
This Christmas I will be going to Romania again with my girlfriend and her family and I trust that I will be able to communicate much better!
Do you have any suggestions to improve the courses?
Apart from better internet connection for Gia, I have nothing to suggest that can add more value to the course at this time! It was really nice!
Would you recommend the courses to others?
Yes, of course! It’s very interesting to learn a new language! Especially if regular fulltime courses don’t fit in your schedule, this is the course to attend!
