We ended our fifth year of ROMPRO activity with a result we are proud of despite the pandemic we have been through. Below you can see some of our activities. We hope that this year we will be able to make our team of volunteers much stronger and put at least as much energy into the good of the community.

The financial reports for each year can be found on the about us.

How was 2020 for BiebRO - Biblioteca Românească Netherlands

Looking back at the recently concluded year, we almost can't believe how much things have varied from the initial plans, but also how many projects we have managed to accomplish under pandemic conditions...

Interconnections Online School

The year 2020 was a year of growth and development for Interconnections Online School. Due to the situation created by the COVID-19 virus, many activities moved online. We have been prepared for this situation, because since 2016 all our courses have been online and our teachers are specialised in online teaching.

In 2020, Interconnections ran 27 courses, of which 10 were in Romanian and 17 in Dutch. In total we had around 150 unique participants and many of our students took 3,4 or even more courses with us. This confirms the quality of our courses and the professionalism of the whole team. Thank you to everyone who joined us in 2020!

In 2021 we will continue in force with new courses (online of course!) in Dutch and Romanian. We also have plans to organise new modules (English language, children's programming). So follow us on our page Facebook and on our website.

Christmas Vibes 2020, a festival in special pandemic edition

12-13 December, ONLINE

Romanian Vibes started in 2017 as the first Romanian festival in the Netherlands, an event dedicated exclusively to Romanian entrepreneurs, artists and idealists working in the Netherlands. In the current context, ROMPRO Foundation has focused on adapting, like all of us, to the new normal, so Romanian Vibes continues in 2020 and moves ONLINE!

During the Christmas Vibes 2020 festival that took place on 12-13 December 2020, Rompro provided an online promotion platform for Romanian entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. The event, a first for our team of volunteers, involved a social media presence on Facebook and Youtube, through an 8-hour daily streaming.

Children's Book Week

30 September - 4 October

Every autumn in the Netherlands, Children's Book Week (Kinderboekenweek) takes place, a nationwide, well-publicised event in which almost all schools, libraries and bookshops participate. In 2018 and 2019, at the initiative of Maria Dicieanu (BiebRO coordinator) and with the support of Romanian School Amsterdam and the ROMPRO Foundation, we brought two special publications close to the Romanian community in the Netherlands, "The story of two tiger cubs called Ninigra and Aligru", by Nina Cassian, and a literary journey through the pages of the illustrated children's magazine Fabulafia. We hoped until the last moment that we would be able to physically organise the third Kinderboekenweek: Children's Book Week. This was not possible, instead we indulged ourselves with 5 online evenings with K.J. Mecklenfeld, Fabulafia magazine, Frontiera publishing house and the Boovie book-trail festival as guests.

Diversity Picnic

27 September, Strandzuid / Zuidpool

ROMPRO Legal Café

September - December

With the support of Mirela de Swart ( legalharmony.nl), the series of legal cafes started at the end of September to discuss topics of interest to Romanians in the Netherlands.

Easter Day 2020

24 June

Lovers of the Romanian port around the world celebrate every year with love Universal Day of Hunger on 24 June!

AI is more than just clothing. It is solid proof of our universal need to communicate through fashion

Volunteers on the phone

Are you having problems during this difficult time? Are you overwhelmed by worry, loneliness or longing? Are you away from family and friends and can't find solutions to acute problems?

You can try calling the hotline, where a group of volunteers in the community are answering these phone numbers on a voluntary basis, subject to availability.

How it was at the Marzipan Fair

1 March, Amstelveen

The little apple is the harbinger of spring. It is the joy of smiling at the sun and the pleasure of creating smiles. It is an intrinsic part of Romanian culture throughout Romania, and nowadays also abroad.

Social aid cases in the Netherlands

One of the many activities of ROMPRO Foundation is providing support in urgent social cases. This is done within the limits of volunteers' availability and using own resources and community support, without funding or subsidies. In the more than 5 years since we have been active (even long before we were officially established as a registered Foundation in the Netherlands) we have solved dozens of social aid cases, uniting around us those who wanted to help in each individual case.

Sport day! - youth day in the Netherlands

9 February, Amsterdam

This was intended to be the first event of 2020 which unfortunately was cancelled in the first instance due to a severe storm then not resumed due to COVID! We hope that in 2021 we will be able to organise as many of these events as possible with other partner organisations.
