Elections for the Chamber of Deputies (Tweede Kamerverkiezing) are coming up!
These will take place on 22 November 2023, and will replace those scheduled for spring 2025, which were brought forward following the fall of the Rutte IV cabinet.

As is traditional, a polling station has also been set up in the Chamber of Deputies. Residents of The Hague can vote at that special polling station.

- 26 parties and a total of 1,126 candidates are taking part in the Chamber of Deputies elections on 22 November 2023.
- 37 parties and 1,579 candidates took part in the 2021 Chamber of Deputies elections.

Polling stations will be open on Wednesday 22 November 2023 from 7:30 to 21:00.
Special polling stations and mobile polling stations may open earlier or later on polling day and close early.

Who can vote?

You can vote for the election of the Chamber of Deputies if you meet the following conditions:

- You are 18 years or older.
- You have Dutch citizenship.
- You are not disqualified from voting.

Where can I vote on 22 November 2023?
To vote, go to a polling station in the municipality where you live. You can also vote in another town, but in this case you must apply for a kiezerspas.

What do I need to vote?
To vote, you need your ballot paper and an ID.
You will receive stempas/ballot at home no later than Wednesday 8 November.

You can see the polling stations in your area on your local municipality's website or on Waarismijnstemlokaal.

Identity cards that allow you to vote

To be able to vote, you need your ballot paper and proof of identity. You need to bring one of these Dutch IDs:

- passport;
- identity card;
- driving licence.

You can also submit one of the following documents:

  • a passport, identity card or driving licence from an EU Member State or EEA country;
  • a Swiss passport or identity card.

When you vote, contribute to : who will become a member of the Chamber of Deputies (Tweedekamer) in the next 4 years. The Chamber of Deputies, together with the Senate, forms the Dutch parliament (called the State General in the Constitution). The Chamber of Deputies consists of 150 members. The most important tasks of the Chamber of Deputies are: monitoring the government and drafting new laws. The cabinet (consisting of the prime minister, ministers and secretaries of state) is not elected. After the election of the Chamber of Deputies, the political parties negotiate to form a coalition that has the support of the majority in the Chamber of Deputies.
