Who wants to cycle with us on June 1st? This year, Rompro brings Bikeathon to the Netherlands! We need your help, the Romanian community in the Netherlands, to make this event possible.

What is Bikeathon in the Netherlands?

Bikeathon is an initiative supported by ROMPRO and Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation, designed to bring together the Romanian community in the Netherlands in a meaningful and generous activity. Taking place on June 1st, Children's Day, the event aims to provide an opportunity for children to get actively involved in supporting an important cause through a fun and healthy activity and to raise donations for these causes.

The Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation has been inspiring and supporting local initiatives in Romania, mobilizing resources and bringing together people and organizations willing and able to contribute to the long-term development of communities since 2013. The Țara Făgărașului Bikeathon is a project that has been organized for 10 years, bringing together the entire community to pedal or support one or more causes. Find out more on the website Bikeathon.

Rompro has chosen to develop a partnership with the Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation to help support special projects in Romania. Many Romanians living in the Netherlands want to be able to contribute in some way to good things in their home country, and this is a good opportunity.

Main activity in the Bikeathon in the Netherlands: participants will cycle together on a route to be determined in advance, estimated to be 2-3 km long. This event is not a bike race, but an opportunity to cycle together to support a cause.

📍Unde: The event is open to any location in the Netherlands and will be able to be organised only with the help of local ambassadors.

Who can participate:

🔸 Children: Only children up to the age of 14 can enter the race accompanied by an adult. Those who register by May 12 will receive a surprise gift!
🔸 Locality coordinators: Adults can register as coordinators for their locality until the deadline of 12 May. They will be responsible for organising and coordinating the action in their area, with support and guidance from ROMPRO. On 15 May, an online meeting will be organised to provide coordinators with information and support in organising and coordinating the action in their locality.

You can register by filling in this form: Bikeathon registration.

Registration fee: There is no registration fee for this event. Instead, we encourage people who want to support the children's work to make a donation that will go to a chosen cause. The children who will be pedaling on June 1 need your support! You can donate here: Bikeathon donation or by scanning the QR code below:

The causes to which these donations will go are:
🟡 I'm a kid too! I want to go to the sea... This project aims to provide a free camp for 10 pupils of the secondary school Șoarș with good results in school but with poor material possibilities. The pupils, through their work at school, want to change something in their lives for the better. That's why the sea camp and the proposed activities would encourage them even more to overcome their conditions.
🟡 Let's not forget our grandparents. This project aims to contribute to improving the quality of life, restoring older people's self-confidence and sense of self-worth, and preventing their marginalisation. We plan to offer a 3-day trip to the Praid Salt Mine in Harghita County to 4 beneficiaries of the "Grandparents of the Soul" Home Care Unit for the elderly, a part of the Diakonia Charity Society, as the salt air is effective in treating respiratory diseases, as well as a short visit to the Sovata resort. For the elderly this trip can only be possible with financial support from the community, as the income of "our grandparents" is only enough to cover the costs of paying for medical treatment and food.
🟡 The right to equal opportunities. A project of the Făgăraș School Centre for Inclusive Education. Description: "We want the children who are enrolled in our school (School Centre for Inclusive Education Făgăraș) to benefit from a better material base represented by games, audio and video materials that stimulate their intellectual development and their whole personality, as well as organizing trips to the surroundings to get to know the environment and stimulate socialization with other children. The beneficiaries of our project are children aged between 6 and 18, from different social backgrounds who need the understanding, support and dedication of all of us to help them integrate into today's society."

IMPORTANT:
The event depends on the number of children and coordinators registered for each locality. Confirmation of participation will be communicated by e-mail.
The presence of a parent/adult supervisor is mandatory, as ROMPRO does not assume responsibility for medical situations/accidents that may occur.

See you on June 1st!
