As predicted, Health Minister Hugo de Jonge has announced that there will be further relaxation of the Dutch coronavirus measures on Wednesday.

Rutte hinted that these measures could be relaxed at last week's press conference, saying this would only be possible if hospitalisation figures fall by at least 20%. Compared to last week, they are already down by over 24%.

Because of this and the decrease in coronavirus infections, the practice is happy to continue with relaxations. "What we see in the figures is a good decrease," says outgoing minister De Jonge, "it's mainly an effect of vaccination."

What measures will be relaxed on Wednesday?
Terraces:
  • Terraces will be open from 6am to 8pm
Measures for sport :
  • Sports halls and indoor pools can be reopened with maximum 30 people allowed at a given time. Booking in advance is mandatory.
  • Persons aged 27 years old and over they are allowed to exercise outside,  in a group, but must keep a distance of 1.5 m. People until the age of 26-year-olds can exercise together without distancing themselves.
Measures for the cultural and entertainment sector :
  • Zoos and theme parks can reopen their outdoor facilities. The number of visitors is limited to one per 10 square meters. Booking is mandatory.
  • Interior locations for artistic and cultural activities can be reopened for music, dance or drama lessons.
  • Outdoor venues for performing arts and film screenings can be reopened with maximum 30 people allowed at a given time.
