Dear Friends,

For several months we have been working on a project that is incredibly dear to us: a collection of Romanian books accessible to the general public. A long-standing dream of ours has come true with the launch of the "Huis van Alle Talen" project of the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam (OBA), an initiative of the Amsterdam Public Library to host collections in the native languages of representative expat communities. We are happy to be among the communities included in this project!

17 November 2019. A landmark day for the Romanian community in the Netherlands: the moment when the first collection of books in Romanian becomes available and accessible to the public. So on 17 November, starting at 11:30 am we meet at OBA Oosterdok (Oosterdokskade 143, Amsterdam) to discuss our incredible adventure that brought us to this landmark. We will tell you about the remarkable mobilization of the Romanian community in the realization of the collection, something about the 230 books for adults and the 40 books for children but we will also provide you with all the necessary information about how to access the books.

Our host will be the OBA Oosterdok's own Great Hall Theatre, and admission is free.

Children will have a special programme with workshops and readings in the dedicated space in the library.

More details about the event and the collection can be found at:

More information about OBA can be found at www.oba.nl

It would be great if you could join this important moment for the Romanian community in the Netherlands and for the Romanians for Romanians Foundation (ROMPRO). Please confirm your presence by 15 November at the e-mail books[@]rompro.nl.

What's your reaction?
