LAB 111 is a successful fusion of bar/restaurant and cinema, a cinematobar we could call it. You can go to the movie after sampling some international cuisine or order something to enjoy during the movie. International is also the selection of films they show. 

In the next period we can watch a selection of films produced after 2000, what we can call the new wave of Romanian directors. Talented and internationally awarded people like Mungiu or Călin Netzer.

All films are shown in Romanian with English subtitles.

Directed by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, who received the Palme d'Or award at the 60th Cannes Film Festival in 2007 and a FIPRESCI award at the same festival, the film debates a taboo subject: the drama experienced by Romanian women in the context of the anti-abortion decree during the Ceausescu era.

  • After the Hills (2012) directed by Cristian Mungiu

 The film was shot in Câmpina. The screenplay is based on the non-fiction novels of writer Tatiana Niculescu Bran, which deals with the case of the exorcism at the Tanacu monastery in Vaslui county.

  • Child's position (2013) directed by Călin Peter Netzer

The Position of the Child is a 2013 Romanian drama film directed by Călin Peter Netzer and produced by Ada Solomon. The film won the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival on 16 February 2013 and the Best Film Award at the Namur Film Festival on 4 October 2013.

The film depicts a lethargic young man, the son of a high society architect, who fatally injures a child. His mother, aware of the gravity of the situation, sets out to save him from the prison sentence that awaits him.

The film shows the difficult atmosphere of an apartment in Bucharest where the 40 days since the death of a family member are celebrated. The film perfectly captures the discrepancy between old and new, so present in every dysfunctional family in Romania.
