Consultation with the Diaspora on the preparation of Romania's EU Council Presidency

Citizens interested in EU issues can participate in choosing the priority themes of the Romanian Presidency by filling in a questionnaire.

The opinions expressed will help to create a picture of the expectations that citizens have, in the country and in the Diaspora, regarding the Presidency of the European Council exercised by Romania, but also about the role that our country has within the European Union, about the benefits and opportunities that Romanians have as a result of the presence of our country in the European Union.

The findings of the questionnaire will be integrated into the reflection process carried out in order to base the themes of interest for the first semester of 2019.

You can complete the questionnaire by going to: http://www.romania2019.eu/chestionar-ro2019eu/

Presidency of the Council of the European Union for Romanians Abroad

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union is an opportunity to reconnect with Romanians living abroad, especially with those in the European area.

Therefore, in the process of preparing and exercising the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the European Affairs component, has set out to create mechanisms through which they are invited to actively participate in defining Romania's role in the European context on the occasion of this important moment for our country.

Romanians abroad are a valuable resource for Romania and their participation can allow the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union to be more visible and creative in achieving its European and national objectives.

Why is it important to participate as a Romanian abroad in the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union?

Romania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union allows among other things:

  • discussing topics of interest to Romania at European level
  • identifying European solutions on rights, obligations and opportunities available in the Member States for all European citizens, therefore also for those from Romania
  • promoting political measures or actions targeting countries in Europe that are not members of the European Union, but where there are important Romanian communities (Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Ukraine, etc.)

Your opinions will help us to create as accurate a picture as possible of the expectations that citizens have of the Presidency, but also of the role that our country has within the European Union, and the conclusions will be integrated into the reflection process carried out in order to base the themes of interest for the first semester of 2019.
