The Ministry for Romanians Abroad (MPRP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sport is organising the tenth edition of the "ARC" Camp Programme.

This programme initiated by the MPRP is aimed at Romanian students and young people from abroad. In 2018 the camps will be organized in the Leisure Centres in Sulina, jud. Tulcea (26 June - 28 August 2018) and Oglinzi, jud. Neamt (25 June - 30 July 2018), in consecutive series of seven days.

The programme will bring together 2,700 Romanian students and young people from countries around the borders and the Balkans, as well as from the diaspora. The activities organised within the Programme will focus on developing communication skills in Romanian, stimulating the spirit of cooperation and unity among young Romanians from all over the world, informing participants about the history of Romanians and deepening their knowledge of Romanian culture and civilisation.

In the camps there will be workshops in Romanian language, creation, sports and there will be organized excursions to tourist and cultural attractions in the area.

Groups will be formed with support for diplomatic missions and associations, respecting the following criteria:

  • are Romanians from all over the world, recommended for ages 8 - 18;
  • is participating for the first time in the ARC programme;
  • have minimal knowledge of Romanian;
  • are winners of national and international olympiads/competitions or have good results in school;
  • have outstanding results and skills in sports, music, fine arts, etc.;
  • have remarkable results in promoting Romanian identity.

For groups to be set up in the diaspora recommended: a) the group must consist of at least 9 children and b) must be accompanied by an adult who will take responsibility for the safety of the group members.

The organisers will cover the accommodation and meals for all participants in the two camps. The MPRP will also organise and support transport for participants from historical communities, as well as transport costs from Bucharest to the camps and back for participating groups from the diaspora. Please note that participants from the diaspora will cover, from their own sources, transport costs from their country of residence to Bucharest and back.

In 2018, for diaspora groups 220 places have been allocated (50 at Camp Oglinzi and 170 at Camp Sulina) and applications can be made until 4 May 2018 at diplomatic missions or directly to the MPRP at the following e-mail address taberearc@mprp.gov.ro. If places are not filled by the above date, they will be reallocated to participants from historic communities.

For places allocated to participants from historic communities the selection procedure from previous years will be maintained, namely through the diplomatic missions of Romania abroad and the associative environment.
