Dwarf workshop

The lesson started with a first Karaoke moment, in which we practiced our talent to "In the peanut forest" and "My little bee".

As part of the creative moment, the dwarves (with invaluable help from their parents) drew the outline of their bodies on giant sheets of paper. Together we named some body parts: mouth, eyes, nose, ears, etc. Tired of drawing, we had fun singing and cheering each other up with the song "Head, shoulders and knees". We ended on a high with another karaoke session, lots of play and ... "See you next time"!

A week ago, I started the theme "Me and my world". We talked about our bodies, how and why we take care of ourselves. Last Saturday, with excitement and curiosity, we continued our journey into the world around us, our family and our emotions. After a gentle warm-up with the game "Open your ear wide", we set off on the trail of our roots. Who takes care of us? Who are the parents of our parents? What is family and who is it made of? These are just some of the questions we were asked. The answers came back promptly and correctly, so we formed a whole family tree. We drew it beautifully on our digital whiteboard and with the children's help we wrote down some family words: great-grandmother/grandfather, grandfather/grandmother, mother/aunt, brother, sister, uncle/aunt, cousin/cousin.

Next, we read a text about emotions: a story in the park with Alex, Corina and Coco the parrot going through great emotions! It started an interesting discussion: we identified the emotions that the three characters feel (sadness, joy, sorrow, delight, sympathy), emotions that we feel too, don't we? Who is "Miss Joy", what does she look like? What about Mrs. Anger? How do we act when we get angry? Impressive and wise answers from the children, it seems that "solution" was the key word.In the last part of the lesson, we "played" with clay. Of course it was a game in which we developed our imagination, stimulated control and muscle strength in our fingers, preparing us to hold the pencil and write! The pieces of clay were named after my mother, my father, my grandfather, me, my brother, my sister. Did you guess? Yes! It's our family!

I look forward to seeing you next Saturday when we conclude our theme and talk about our best friend.

Play, personal development and photography

On Saturday 3 February we had a very interesting lesson, reviewing the knowledge from last time and moving on to new experiments. We resumed the experiment related to Perspective, this time trying other angles, with more precision and control, through object study, moving slowly towards Composition, the central aim of the lesson.

We continued the series of experiments trying out various compositions with objects and characters, paying attention to background, edges, framing and of course light, trying our best not to shake our hands. I really enjoyed surprising the little ones very active and interested in the Composition method, coming up with fun and ingenious solutions. And frisky as they are, we also shared our musical tastes, at the same time, our knowledge of geography, and towards the end we rewarded our efforts with a game of "Donkey among sheep", spinning the world on our fingers and looking for fabulous destinations where we can travel this time through imagination, ending with lots of energy and good cheer.I reminded them about the competition, but even they were too busy to think about it, so we will spend the next lesson finishing this project. And since we've been experimenting with the Composition method, we'll be using these concepts in drama and development as well, using cut-outs and other materials to make collages on the themes already mentioned. So you can help me by printing out some images at home that we will cut out in class. These images may include famous Romanian monuments such as the Arch of Triumph in the capital, Brancusi's Infinity Column and the Kissing Gate, sights such as the Sphinx in the Bucegi Mountains, historical references such as the Dacian wolf, rare animals such as the buffalo, the black goat and the lynx, a map of Romania, details of folk architecture elements, traditional masks or anything else that comes to mind and has not been listed.

I look forward to the next session, knowing how exciting our lesson will be. See you soon!
