We are pleased to announce that Romanian School Amsterdam organise a pilot maths workshop for children aged 8-12. Every Saturday, for 4 weekends, children will have the chance to explore the world of maths in a fun and educational way.
Workshop coordinator Iulia Pintilie, graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics of Al. I. Cuza University of IaÈ™i in 1996. She has taught in Romania for 6 years at secondary school, since 2003 she has been living in the Netherlands and since 2008 she has been working in the Dutch education system as a maths teacher.Â
She is married to a former sportsman, a hockey player with Steaua Bucharest, and is the mother of a 20-year-old son, who is busy with his own business. She loves what she does and takes great pleasure in sharing what she has learnt with those around her.
Her motto is: To give is to multiply! Or, as the Dutch say, Delen is vermenigvulduldigen!

Over the four Saturdays we will explore the following topics:
Maths test, to get to know each other better. We will have addition, subtraction, multiplication, division with and without subtraction, percentages.
Fun maths stories, which tests the ability to think abstractly and make connections between different concepts.
The golden number. We'll find out what it is and how we can calculate it ourselves.
Computer language. We'll learn about binary calculus and how computers work with binary terms.
