Dwarf workshop

Congratulations Simona! The Dwarfs' Workshop was a time of tennis and emotions for Simona Halep, who at that time was playing the Roland Garros final. The sheer energy of the children paid off as Simona won her first tournament of this calibre.

The dwarves were also able to practice their tennis game and colour in Simone's drawing. We also had a special guest, Max (5 years old), who showed the Dwarves how to colour between the lines :).And for the rest of the hour, the Dwarves were able to choose their own favourite activity, football, modelling, reading, drawing, building and much more, while mums and grandmas exchanged a few more words.

Last Saturday, a new meeting that we attended with enthusiasm, joy and eagerness to learn through play. This time, the lesson started differently than usual. With the help of two children, we drew on the blackboard various elements representative of the season "summer". The children took up the challenge of guessing the theme of our lesson. Sun, beach, holiday, lots of red fruit (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, melon), don't they make us think of summer? The theme has not been long in coming. Clever children and suggestive drawings! Play continued by writing various words on the board, also identifying new sounds. The sound and the letter 'v', gave us a lot of trouble, without really trying, as in Dutch the 'v -' is read 'f'. By drawing a parallel between the two languages, we established the differences and understood when we use "v-ul" and "f -ul" in Dutch.

Mihai Constantinescu's song O, world, wonderful was in tune with our theme and we sang and danced to its rhythm. Here is the link with the request to listen to it again at home with your child:

Next, the group worked in age categories. The 4 to 5 year olds played with picture cards and letters and were given the task of naming the pictures and finding the first matching letter. The 6-7 year olds sat down at the table, happy and serious. Here the star letter "v" was tamed by the magic pencils and the skilful hands of the little ones. Our lesson ended with a creative moment. The little ones were given animal colouring stencils and the older ones created a field of summer flowers using stickers in geometric shapes.

We look forward to a new lesson with the same theme "Summer".

Last Saturday we had a very pleasant day with the children from Raluca's group.

At first we got to know each other, although I had worked with some of them before. Once we felt ready to start working, we started a game, to create a story together, or several... The rule was to move "Brownian" through the class and when someone stopped, they had to say a word or a sentence that had to have something to do with what was said before and, as the game went on, they had to create a story. At each stop it was the turn of another one of us to continue and give another twist to the story. That's how we started two stories, the ending of which is still open :)

After warming up, and our imaginations and even ourselves (it was very hot outside and in the classroom), we moved on to the next stage, creating visual stories, collages made from cut-outs from various colourful magazines. The children were so excited to see all those colourful snippets that they unexpectedly got to work. They chose different themes, Anna a floral theme, Matilda went for colour, the first collage, more complex, made from shades of pink, Ariana had a well-knit story with a character in it and Matthew, very consistent and focused, worked on an abstract composition. So much did they enjoy working on the collages that they didn't even want a lunch break, they all stayed focused on what they were doing, saying the day at school seemed too short. All in all, we had an enjoyable day together, where we forgot about time and heat and inspired each other.

What's your reaction?
