Dwarf workshop

Last Saturday we took an imaginary trip to the sheep farm and played with the mischievous lambs.

We have created the story of the naughty sheep, who celebrates her birthday and has a variety of guests who bring her wonderful gifts. We used the pictures from the storybook, which we adapted to our own imagination each time, and then we listened to the song "Nea Alecu, Nea Alecu shears the sheep and the ram".

On the creative side, the children were given a card with a naughty lamb which they "dressed" with wool fur, cotton wool or even plasticine.

Our hour ended to the children's favourite music.

Next Saturday, we'll meet at a new workshop, when we'll celebrate the Day of Joy.

Here we are back with a few more games fished from the memory tabs, games that for some of us adults mean something important. I find it a sincere and beautiful mission to share them with our children and pass them on in the hope that they will remember them when they grow up.

Last Saturday we played two games, one classic and one half invented. For a while we played Envelope, which is an easier version of Shuffleboard, which they seemed to have a lot of fun with, and soon they became competitive, trying to win a mini championship. Then among the paperjumping, bouncing and jumping we played Magic Snake. The Magic Snake eats in alphabetical order all sorts of strange things, from a naughty child, to a game, a country or a simple pretzel. Each of these things are in all sorts of little boxes inside the snake. By repeating the alphabet each child picks a letter and then going to the box they find the thing the snake has eaten and will make a little story about it.

I noticed that children prefer to run and scramble rather than make up stories, but eventually I showed them that it's not that hard and that it's good to think about it sometimes. So if the snake ate the colour red, a story about red will be one where a child stumbles and hits it and bleeds. If the snake ate a doughnut, then we'll remember the last time we ate sugar-dusted doughnuts made by the Romanian granny. If the snake ate a game, the story may be endless or it may be a little crock of a few words.

As long as the bouncing is combined with the Romanian words, the fun will be priceless.

Next time we'll have plenty of quality time during the scheduled school trip, and I for one am quivering with anticipation at the thought of the frolic to come.

Last Saturday's lesson began with the reading of two poems (Vasile Alecsandri - Mowing and Demostene Botez - Summer), paying particular attention to vocabulary, suggesting summer and the country's activities during this season: the ripe grass, the cheerful Cossacks, the scythe, the sheaf, the wheat, the rye, the tractor, the reaper, the sheaves, the girdle. Some of the children knew these words, others did not, so I would ask you to recall them at home or to reread the poems, forming simple sentences together. You can find the texts here:

We danced and sang along to "A Wonderful World" and "What a Little Holiday!", the songs we'll be singing on our Saturday trip. Here's the link to listen to them again with your child:

As we are increasingly interested in letters and writing, we moved on to our board where we discovered the missing letters of some words, naming the season summer. I can't tell you what a sporting contest of answers and how insightful your little ones are.Our workshop ended with a creative moment. The children created a collage depicting a summer landscape.

As you already know this Saturday, we will go on a trip to Veluwe Park and the Kroller-Muller Museum on the occasion of the Romanian Days. Beautiful weather and lots of great activities for children and adults. So, let's meet, with love and good will, in the coach.
