Dwarf workshop

On Saturday, we met with great joy at a new workshop and continued our adventure into the land of autumn goodness.

On this occasion, I read "The Story of the Baby Hedgehog" by Lucia Muntean. It's a beautiful story about a baby hedgehog who doesn't understand what his spikes are for. On its way, it meets several characters, each more gifted than the last. However, he doesn't give up until he finds out the purpose of his spikes. The ending reveals the baby hedgehog's answer: to protect himself from danger.

Autumn is the harvest season, so the worksheet was in tune with this period: a basket of seasonal fruit (apples, pears, grapes), which the children coloured.

The children expressed their creativity when they played with fruit and made some beautiful hedgehogs out of grapes and pears. They were so delicious that the little ones couldn't help themselves and ate them, but not all. They showed their generosity and shared some of their hedgehogs with their colleagues from the other workshops.

To keep the atmosphere lively, we all got caught up in the horde and sang and danced to the songs The Peanut and Clap Your Hands.

The children had the opportunity last time to participate in the preparation of an event that will take place this Saturday: Kinderboekenweek. We'll be talking about an interesting appearance: a reprint of Nina Cassian's poem 'The story of two tiger cubs called Ninigra and Aligru'.

We talked about our favourite animal or toy, drew and cut it out and built a set for a fantasy world. The favourite animal became a hero of a new world created together as seen through the eyes of the children.

This little set we built together will be part of the backdrop for the reading after the book mentioned during Saturday's event. We will read a few chapters from Nina Cassian's poem and the children will be able to participate with the little stuffed animals they brought last time. And maybe our fantastic animals will come alive for a few moments.

What's your reaction?
