We look back with gratitude to all the projects and initiatives through which we have been able to support the Romanian community in the Netherlands in 2024.

Each activity brought an added sense of connection, support and sharing of cultural values. We invite you to take a look together at some of this year's most memorable moments.

Social Department

The year 2024 stands out as a year rich in events organised by the Social Department. Thus, the first event of the year was organised in March and was dedicated exclusively to women. The seminar "Domestic violence - the legal perspective" was the most impactful seminar organised in 2024.

The series of seminars continued with a seminar dedicated to a topic that is always of interest, namely, "The novelties of the Dutch tax system and the psychology of money", which took place in June. This seminar also marked a valuable collaboration with the Romanian Embassy in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The autumn proved to be rich in informative events. Thus, the third seminar took place in September and was also dedicated to "Domestic Violence", but this time from a psychological perspective.

We continued with the seminar on "The role of the trade union in the employment relationship", an online seminar that provided useful information especially for Romanian workers facing various problems.

October came with two seminars. The first was dedicated to "Health in the Netherlands", a seminar that was held in physical format but also streamed online.

The last seminar of the year was streamed exclusively online and tackled a topic relevant to migrant workers, "False promises in the recruitment phase".

The seminars that were also streamed online can be found and listened to on the Foundation's YouTube page.

The Social Department of the RomPro Foundation has enjoyed the support of the Department for Romanians Abroad in the realisation of its projects.

Events department

In 2024, the Rompro events team enthusiastically organised four events dedicated to the Romanian community in the Netherlands:

  1. Spring Fair took place in February in Rijswijk/Haga. The event brought together Romanian exhibitors from all over the Netherlands and attracted many delighted visitors. In addition to the products on display, the fair included an artistic programme of folk dances with masks.
  2. Bikeathon Netherlands took place in June and was organised by the ROMPRO team together with Bikethon Țara Făgărașului and the Romanian School in Amsterdam.
  3. Romanian Vibes Festival took place in September in Delft. The programme included live music, various workshops, a fair with exhibitors and children's activities. The very large public also enjoyed traditional dishes such as mince, langois and kurtos kalacs, as well as the "home from home" atmosphere.
  4. Romania's National DayOn 1 December, ROMPRO, together with RoFilmNL and Pathe Nederland, organised the screening of the film ''The New Year that was not''. The film was shown in four major Dutch cities: The Hague, Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Utrecht.

These activities were made possible thanks to the involvement of experts, partners and volunteers who joined our mission to support the Romanian diaspora community.

We thank all participants and invite you to stay with us in 2025.
