Dwarf workshop

Our midgets have turned into machines. Beautiful, fiery red cars made out of cardboard boxes, on which the Dwarves glued wheels, headlights and, of course, a steering wheel. And with the help of the braces attached to the boxes, the children became real cars! Then we learned that cars drive on the street that we built from a puzzle. We also played at crossing the street, based on what we learned from this video:Tut! Tut! Have a good trip!

Play and personal development

We had the opportunity to spend another blustery Saturday together with unsuspecting energy. We completed a few exercises and had the opportunity to observe interesting things about each other's personalities.

From a light warm-up, through a quick character building exercise using three items or props, to a brief introduction of that character, we moved on to modern dance steps and practicing other quick reflexes. But we also went through elements from past games, practising vocabulary and new words learned recently.

All in all, we had a great time together last Saturday, which prompts me to try some lighter exercises for next time out of curiosity to explore children's qualities of introspection, dreaming and escaping from reality.

Romanian language and culture

Our lesson today started in a circle, with a dialogue and game on the topic of crafts. We played with picture cards and learned new profession names (cook, baker, waiter, plumber, mechanic, engineer, shoemaker, etc.), paying attention to each one. Did you know that there is also the profession of leprechaun? According to the children, they come in many varieties: cute, kind, playful and mischievous.

After they easily guessed what was under the tea towel on the tray I brought, we enjoyed apple pie and read the story "The Shoemaker and the Goblins", a story about gratitude, about a poor shoemaker who was rewarded by some mischievous goblins.

A successful exercise was a game of skill and collaboration with the ball. The ball turned into a leprechaun, bouncing and doing mischief, switching back and forth and testing our reaction speed and grip strength.

At the work table, each child was given a jigsaw puzzle depicting a tart, with the exercise of reconstructing the tart and pasting it onto a sheet of paper. We ended the lesson with a modelling exercise. The little bakers/bakers created cakes, cakes and food (peas, meatballs, fries, etc.).I look forward to seeing you next time for a new lesson, when we will conclude the theme of crafts and perhaps take advantage of the knowledge and presence of special guest Dana Marin.
